Loveless -A Blinded sequel- CH. 2

Before I could finish my screaming a dark figure flashed in front of my view. I closed my eyes as the familiar feel of blood splattered onto my face. The figure landed in front of me. It looked similar, in fact, this all seemed proverbial. I looked up at his face and widened my eyes.
My eyes slowly started tearing up, and he bent down in front of me. “T-Takune?” I muttered.
His face was just as expressionless as ever. “You’re not going to cry again, are you?”
Suddenly I felt rage burn inside me and I pushed him out of my face and was about to hack him, but my limbs gave out, and I plopped my head onto his shoulder in exhaustion. I didn’t feel him move under me, and I didn’t care.
The next time we talked was in Haine’s and Takune’s house. Turns out, Haine was Takune’s last mentor. I wish I knew this earlier. Anyway, it was so uncomfortable.
I sat on the far end of the room, on this small cushioned chair. “You killed me.”
Haine looked over at Takune. “This is the girl?!”
“I had to, Rinko, I’m sorry,” he muttered.
“Can’t believe you got the balls to do it.”
I frowned. “Don’t say sorry unless you mean it! You killed me, Takune! With a kitchen knife!”
“That is not even comparable to a kitchen knife! It’s a dagger!”
“It was still a knife in my heart and flesh!!”
Haine widened his eyes. “Anyone want something to eat…?”
I stood up angrily and walked briskly over to where Takune was sitting. “I thought we meant something, Takune. You said you loved me, and then shoved a knife in my flesh!” I turned around when I got teary-eyed. “You are an ass!!” I shrieked furiously.
I didn’t even wait for an answer. Before I knew it, I was running out the door, my heart and brain racing inside me.
I was afraid to go back. I ran the farthest I could and fell down on the cold concrete. I covered my face and started crying, curling up in a ball. I hadn’t realized I was still on the edge of the street under a lamppost. Haine found me about half an hour later, but by then I had stopped crying.
He bent down next to me and lifted up my face softly. “It’s amazing that you remember anything. Plus, you still have emotions. I know Takune is a jerk, but you can’t give up on being with him. If it doesn’t work out, just be there for him. He doesn’t have feelings, but you do, and you love him. He’ll have you around.” He chuckled and I wiped away my last tears.
“I’m sorry I’m not good at comforting.” He muttered.
I shook my head. “No, I want to thank you Haine. But I can’t go back now.”
He grabbed my hand. “You have to. Where would you go?”
I sniffed sadly. “Anywhere but here. I understand I can’t kill monsters because I’m to weak!”
“You still have the ability to remember and feel emotions.”
I shrugged. “Still.”
Haine smiled, which I’m sure was the first time ever, even for him. “Please come back. Takune’s waiting for you.”
“Yeah right.”
“Are you going to take the chance?”
He stood and held out his hand for me. I smiled, shaking my head and grabbed onto him.
Haine was actually sort of right about Takune waiting for us to come back. He was sitting in the entryway in a wooden chair. He stood when we came in the door.
I looked down, completely embarrassed. “I’m sorry I yelled, Takune.”
To my surprise he reached his arms around me and hugged me tightly. I blushed and held him back. Haine walked away awkwardly and we stood there, hugging for a long time, which felt like forever. I went to go take a shower, and when I came out and into my new room, Takune was there.
I threw the closest thing to me at him. It was a shoe.
“Get out!” I laughed, “I’m practically naked!” Yeah, I was only in a towel.
He shrugged. “I was only fixing up your new room.”
I sat on the bed next to him.
I laughed. “Let’s have sex.”
He scooted a little away from me.
I laughed harder and pushed him to the door. “I was just kidding, you pervert. Get out, OK?”
He laughed. I was shocked because he laughed. Not only that, but before he left, he snuck a kiss on my cheek before exiting and closing the door.
God, I was so tired. I got into pajamas and fell asleep instantly.
I dreamt I was alive again. It was cold and dark and I felt scared. I felt like screaming. I was surprised I didn’t. Suddenly I did hear a scream. I didn’t know if it was mine though.
I woke with a jolt. That was the stupidest and most pointless dream ever. I put on my uniform and ran down the stairs. When I got down there, Takune and Haine were eating cereal together. They were talking, and stopped when they saw me.
“You still have that uniform?”
I nodded at Haine. I really didn’t want to get rid of my school uniform. It was the thing I wore most around town. “I’m going to go get some groceries, is that OK?”
Takune shook his head. “I wouldn’t. Humans are creepy. Besides, high schoolers might recognize you. We can’t risk that. If you were in school you couldn’t keep up with anything. Plus, people might find out about your immortality.”
“I used to be a human yesterday, you know.”
Takune turned his whole body towards me and blinked. “What about everything else I said?”
Haine looked at me, and then back at Takune. “I can’t tell if you love each other, or hate each other.”
I blushed, and Takune turned back to his breakfast.
“Fine, I won’t go, alright? But what am I supposed to do all day?”
Haine shrugged. “Go be stupid, that’s what we do all day.”
I laughed in a sarcastic way. “Yeah, I bet that’s hard.”
Haine just shrugged, acting serious about it. “It is. Now take your axe in case you run into some trouble.”
I blinked. “What if I hurt a human or they see me with it!”
Takune smiled. “Sucks for you then.”
I wanted to laugh, but I sighed and put my axe in my hands and walked out. Haine told me immortals can make things disappear, or at least send them to… another space or whatever. That’s what I did with the axe. Sorry, I can’t explain it very well.
I decided to go to the park for awhile. It was warm, and I wanted to relax and feel human again. I sat on a bench in the corner. When I sat down, I set my hand down and something poked me, and I winced in pain. I looked at my hand. It was bleeding. I must have hit a piece of sharp wood. I got angry at myself. All of a sudden, some little kids bumped into the park bench and turned to them, my anger still fresh. I stood up when they screamed.
I held out my hand to the one that was nearest. A little girl. “Don’t worry, it’s OK! I won’t hurt you!”
I looked at my hand solemnly, and realized I was bleeding badly. The other kid, a boy I thought was probably her brother, ran away crying, followed by his sister. I got embarrassed when people started staring, and their mother glared at me. I looked down upset. There was a puddle in front of me, from when it rained. I realized my eyes had turned blood red from my anger. They faded to white when I started to relax. I closed my eyes.
I-I’m a monster?
When I got home I went to the bathroom for a band-aid, but I had already stopped bleeding. I walked out and bumped into Haine.
He nodded. “How was the day?”
I frowned. “I scared some little kids when my eyes turned red.”
He smiled and patted my shoulder. “I’m so proud of you! Your first terror making.”
He groaned angrily and went to lie on the couch in front of the TV for the rest of the night, but he stopped me. “Just because you suck at killing monsters, doesn’t mean you won’t. We have another mission tonight. I want you and Takune to work on it, alright? I’ve got my own monster, and the high class agrees that we need to have you two work together. I’m not sure why, but I believe it’s the best.”
I sighed. “I’ll want to kill him.”
Haine smiled. “I’m willing to take that risk.”
I smiled back and he walked away.
I plopped down on the couch next to Takune and looked at him. “Haine wants us to do a mission together.”
He nodded.
It was silent for awhile. I felt awkward, but I let it happen.
“We are going to go, right?”
“I’d rather die again.”
I punched his arm. “C’mon, Takune it’ll be fun!” And let me say, we kicked ass.
